Hold firm to your Expectation

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
MONDAY, 8TH JANUARY 2024
TOPIC: HOLD FIRM TO YOUR EXPECTATION

TEXT: MARK 5:36
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe. KJV

As soon as Jesus sent forth the woman with the issue of blood with peace and blessing, Jairus received the bad news of his daughter’s death. The messenger came with the fact, also, with the outright suggestion that he shouldn’t bother Jesus any longer, as all hope was lost. Please read;

While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? Mark 5:35 KJV

Jairus received this news but Jesus heard the words of the servant and immediately, turned to Jairus, he said; …Be not afraid, only believe. Mark 5:36 KJV

Jesus understood that the messenger came to sell fear to Jairus through his words. And this will destroy his expectation and already declared desire. Do you remember that he demanded that Jesus should come to his house, lay his hands on his daughter and she shall be healed? However, the pronouncement of his death, will stifle this desire and expectation. Thus, Jesus stepped in and helped his faith. He encouraged him to hold firmly to his expectations.

Most times, when we step out in faith, trusting the word of God, and the unexpected happens, we are quick to conclude on our desire and throw it away. In times like this, our ability to continue to feed on God’s words, will sustain our faint and troubled heart. The encouragement that the word of God will bring in such time is to help us to hold firmly to our faith.

Thank God, Jairus obeyed Jesus. He didn’t accept defeat. Jesus got to his house, sent away the mockers and healed his daughter. His desire was brought to pass. Can you just hold on a little more? Can you pray more? Can you study more? Can you listen to faith filled testimonies and miracles the more? Can you allow Jesus to perfect your faith by patience? Will you hold firmly to your expectation with a resolution that what you prayed for must materialise in God’s mercies.

This is faith and God will honour your resilience and diligence in trusting his words.

PRAYER

Thank you, Lord. I receive grace, strength and capacity to go the extra mile in trusting you. Even when it seems all hope is lost, I choose your word repeatedly. I am not going back neither will I accept defeat in Jesus’ name. Amen

The Believer’s Expectations I

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
THURSDAY, 21ST APRIL 2022
TOPIC: THE BELIEVER’S EXPECTATIONS I

TEXT: 1CORINTHIANS 15:50
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (KJV)

The believer is one who have been begotten again to a lively hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1Peter 1:3). And by this, he is one who do not only believe that Jesus, his Lord and savior is coming again but much more, he lives with the hope that he will see him and look exactly as he is. 1John 3:1-3 revealed the love of God bestowed on the believer and his expectation;

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The world do not recognize the son of God, the believer, because it failed to recognize Jesus our savior. But the believer is the son of God and when the Lord Jesus will returns, he will see him as he is and be like him. This expectation and hope is alive and firm in the believer.

The believer will be like Jesus, which means that the believer will be changed and bear a new body as of Christ. For this corruptible body must put on incorruption, for Christ’s body is incorruptible. This is the victory of the believer, a life lived eternally.

You as a believer must hold this truth firmly and the instruction in the next verse is your responsibility, it says;

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1John 3:3)

Therefore, the believer isn’t without hope and the reality of the eternity in Christ. Keep your hope alive, for Christ is coming for the saints.

PRAYER

Thank you righteous Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled reserved in heaven for us. We, who trust in you and are kept by the power of God through faith in Christ Jesus. I live with the reality of Christ Jesus, the soon coming King, now and forevermore. Amen
