Jesus is the Light of the World

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
THURSDAY, 11TH APRIL 2024
TOPIC: JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

TEXT: JOHN 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. KJV

Jesus introduces himself as the light of the world. He understood who he was and his mission on earth being God in the flesh. He said, I am the light of the world. The impact of his identity as the light of the world, can be deduced from the revelation of John the Apostle, who wrote the book of John. He started with the revelation of God, who is the word that exist in the beginning. By the word, all things were made and, in the word, is life.

Furthermore, in verse 4-5 it says; ‘In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not’ KJV. Since Jesus established himself as the light of the world, we can hold unto the truth that he is the one who shines in the darkness of this world. He didn’t just shine, he dispel the darkness of the world because darkness couldn’t overpower, overcome, and comprehend him. In John 9:5 Jesus said; “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Apostle Paul communicated this revelation about the identity of Jesus, as the light of the world in second Corinthians chapter four and verse three through six. He said, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4 KJV)

Darkness in the world represents the works of the god, who ruled this world through his principalities, powers, and wicked forces in the air. He is the devil, the enemy of the soul of men. He blinds the heart of men from seeing the light of the glorious gospel of Christ. Thus, men become incapacitated under the bondage of ignorance, and blindness done by the devil who blind their heart against the light. Jesus, who is the light of the world communicates the truth of the gospel of salvation, which delivers men from sin and bring them into the light of God’s kingdom.

Let’s read further; “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:5-6 KJV).

The preaching and teaching of Jesus is to cut short the work of the god of this world. It is to cause the darkness that permeates the heart of men, to be lightened by the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, which is in Christ Jesus. Jesus said, he who follows him and believe in him, will not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life. Jesus is the light of this world, are you in the light?

PRAYER

Lord, Jesus, I recognise you as the light of the world. I believe in your work on earth as the one who came to deliver me from the power of darkness, and the blindness that permeates my heart against the words of salvation. Forgive me today and cover me in your love. I believe in you, and I confess that you died for my sins and rose for my justification. Thank you for saving me, Amen.

Arise from the Dead

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY, 31ST MARCH 2024
TOPIC: ARISE FROM THE DEAD

TEXT: EPHESIANS 5:14
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. KJV

We have established that God create the heavens and the earth for man to inhabit. The earth was created to be occupied by man and all that is in the earth was created for the service of man. God has a purpose for man and the earth. In his wisdom he fashions the existence of man to be dependent on him. Therefore, no man can thrive without the knowledge of God.

However, there was a deviation through sin and darkness enveloped the heart of man and the earth lost its essence, for it was corrupted through the wickedness and violence of man. Thus, the earth need to receive light and man need to be delivered from wickedness that sterns from his heart. God being the creator of both, stood as the eternal saviour to restore man to himself. He spoke through one of his prophets, Isaiah in chapter 60 of the book of Isaiah saying;

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1-2 KJV

Light has come and light is here upon the earth. Jesus is that light that lights everyman on the earth. He gives man light to dispel darkness and the wicked state of his heart. Also, the earth will be delivered from this corruption of darkness and wickedness. For the meek shall inherit the earth. God made the earth to exist perpetually for man. This will find expression in Christ at his appearing.

2Corinthians 5:19 says; “to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” KJV. God reconciled the world to himself in Christ Jesus. Thus, the world (referring to man) is found in union and peace with God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, arise from the darkness which is the state of death, and Christ, who is the light, will give you light. He is the light of the world. Receive him and be saved!

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I come before you who is the light of the world, to receive light and salvation. I believe that you died for my sins and was raised by the power of God for my justification. My sins are forgiven by the sacrifice of your blood. Wash me clean and make me white as snow. Purify my heart with your power even as you have redeemed my life from destruction. Thank you for your light. I am not in darkness any longer. Amen

Light has Come to the World

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
FRIDAY, 29TH MARCH 2024
TOPIC:LIGHT HAS COME TO THE WORLD

TEXT: JOHN 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. KJV

Yesterday, we learnt that Jesus is the light, and he was sent by God to light everyman that come to the world. Which means that everyman in this world need Jesus, who is the light to give light to their soul. This is necessary because we have earlier established and learn that the ways of man were corrupted and the thought of his heart is evil continually. Thus, man needed help, which God perfected the need in Christ Jesus by Grace through salvation. Hence, we can refer to salvation as light in the darkness.

The phrase “Light in the darkness” typifies salvation from sin and destruction. It also refers to a repositioning back to Genesis 1:1-2. It also refers to the revelation of the truth that God is light, and sin with its lust and consequences that influence man and cause his heart to turn away from God; is as a result of darkness or is darkness in itself. In this light. 1John 1:5 says;
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all KJV. This means that the work of God in creating the heavens and earth is for good and nothing contrary to good is in his will. Thus, all that he created as accounted for in Genesis chapter one, has the verdict that it was good.

Sin isn’t good. The deviation from the instruction of God by Adam and Eve isn’t good and the curse that came because of their choice isn’t good as well. The corruption of the earth, which was full of violence and the heart of men filled with wickedness and evil isn’t good. They are all because of sin. Thus, Jesus came as a light to the world to set man free from darkness and restore him to God, to be in union forever, as it was, in the beginning.

Thus, condemnations await everyone, to whom the light of salvation shines upon on earth but have refused to receive, accept and believe in it. Such have despised the truth that he needs light to be free from darkness. And such has ignorantly remained under the lordship of darkness being deceived. You can make a choice today to believe, receive and acknowledge the light that is in the world. Jesus died and resurrected, he left the earth with the command that all nations must be taught and preach unto to be saved. Your salvation is the fulfilment of his commandment. Pray with me.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I recognise that I need you, the light of the world. I don’t want to live in darkness anymore. Therefore, I confess that you have become my Lord and saviour and believe with my heart that you died for my sins and was raised from the dead by the power of God for my justification. My sins are forgiven, and I am now in the light. Amen

Love is Light

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY, 11TH FEBRUARY 2024
TOPIC: LOVE IS LIGHT

TEXT: 1JOHN 2:10
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. KJV

The worst thing that can happen to a believer is to cause other believers to stumble or fall. We really do not know when we cross this line and become an enemy of Christ, just because we fail to walk in love as commanded by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. For more clarity, the Amplified version will help us, please read:

The one who loves and unselfishly seeks the best for his [believing] brother lives in the Light, and in him there is no occasion for stumbling or offense [he does not hurt the cause of Christ or lead others to sin]. 1 John 2:10 AMP

Therefore, to walk in love is to live in the Light. And we know who is referred to as the Light. He is Jesus, the son of the living God (John 1:4,8:12&12:46). To walk in love is to walk in Christ Jesus, to abide and perpetually remain in him. I am certain this answers the question how can I remain steadfast and not backslide? how can I keep the fire burning in my life? Simply walk in love, this is how to keep standing in Christ Jesus.

1John 2:7-8 says; Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message which you have heard [before from us]. On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true and realized in Christ and in you, because the darkness [of moral blindness] is clearing away and the true Light [the revelation of God in Christ] is already shining. AMPV

The true light which is the revelation of God in Christ Jesus is already shining. It teaches love as the umpire of Faith. Love for God first, and for your neighbour which encompasses even those who you can categorise as your enemy. The revelation of Jesus teaches that love never fails. It wins the battle over hatred and he who has come to Jesus, the light, will not walk in darkness, therefore, he or she cannot habitually live out of love. This truth is affirmed in the verse below:

The one who says he is in the Light [in consistent fellowship with Christ] and yet habitually hates (works against) his brother [in Christ] is in the darkness until now. 1 John 2:9 AMP.

The Love of God (agape) is the Light that dispel darkness. You become a terror to darkness when you live your life perpetually yielded to the Spirit of love, who is in you.

PRAYER

Thank you, Father. I walk in light because you are the Light. In my heart is shed abroad your eternal and unselfish love. I learn of this love and walk in love, doing that which characterizes the best attitude in accordance with your word and leadership in Jesus’ name. Amen

The All Knowing God IV

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
MONDAY, 14TH AUGUST 2023
TOPIC: THE ALL KNOWING GOD IV

TEXT: PSALMS 139:12
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. KJV

Before God, the dark is vivid as though it is the light. All things are naked and open to his eyes. He is not a man who sees darkness as darkness. Rather, darkness give way and open up to him because he is God Almighty, the maker and former of all things.

David, by his intimate relationship with God, wrote about the nakedness of all things before God even the life of every man. It’s a very sweet and interesting Psalm. I imploy you to read from verse one through to the end at your convenience. However, let’s read through each sentences diligently as I lead;

O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, And art acquainted with all my ways. Psalm 139:1-3 KJV

For there is not a word in my tongue, But, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, And laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain unto it. Psalm 139:4-6 KJV

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: If I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Psalm 139:7-9 KJV
Even there shall thy hand lead me, And thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; Even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; But the night shineth as the day: The darkness and the light are both alike to thee. Psalm 139:10-12 KJV

Isn’t all these beautiful? A good understanding of the above revelation will help you to rest solely in God’s arms, knowing that he is more than able to take care of all that you can ask or think. You can’t run from him and truly, there is joy in abiding in his presence. Ensure you read through till the end; however, I love verse 14; it says; I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvellous are thy works; And that my soul knoweth right well. KJV. Let your soul be saturated with this knowledge!

PRAYER

Thank you Father. For it is evil for a soul to be without the knowledge of your words and your immeasurable abilities. I ask that the description of your overwhelming power flood my heart like a river that overflow it bounds, let my heart know right well that your eyes sees all. Let this knowledge draw me to the place of prayer, where your ears are attentive to listen to my cry in Jesus’ name. Amen

The All Knowing God III

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY, 13TH AUGUST 2023
TOPIC: THE ALL KNOWING GOD III

TEXT: DANIEL 2:22
he revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. KJV

We are still gleaning on Daniel’s declaration in establishing the depth of God’s greatness and his gratitude towards him for revealing the King’s dream and the interpretation thereof. He acknowledged that God reveals deep and secret things when we pray. He is able to do this because he knows what is in the darkness and light dwells with him. What an incredible God we have as our Father. Why won’t you pray to such a God, who knows all things and there is nothing hidden before his face.

In relation to Daniel’s expression, prophet Jeremiah declared in twenty third chapter and verse twenty and four saying; Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. KJV

No man can hide himself from God because, his eyes sees all things at the same time by his power, in that he fills the heaven and the earth. The writer of Hebrews corroborates this truth in the fourth chapter and verse thirteen, saying; Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. KJV

God reveal his secret to them that love and fear him. Thus it isn’t far-fetched that when Daniel plug into God’s presence by his mercies, he with his friends came back with answer through God’s indefinite power. How much more do you stand in advantage as new creation in Christ Jesus. You are to go boldly before God’s throne, regarding anything that seems confusing or you desire petition of God, with assurance that there is mercy and grace at his throne to receive you and also give response to your heartfelt need.

God has not change! What he has done in the past for men who trust and seek him, he will do for you, if you will wear the same shoes of faith and absolute reliance on God’s power without wrath and doubt. He who seeks God’s hands in his life must learn how to put all his eggs in one basket without fear.

PRAYER

Thank you Father because there is absolutely nothing hidden before you. You see in darkness and light dwell with you. I ask that you switch on your light in my life, let nothing contrary to your will thrive in my heart. Switch the light on and dispel the craftiness of the enemy in Jesus’ name. Amen

The Spirit’s Leading III

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SUNDAY, 12TH MARCH 2023
TOPIC: THE SPIRITS LEADING III

TEXT: PSALMS 105:39
He spread a cloud for a covering; And fire to give light in the night. KJV

The act of God as he guided and led forth his people was duly accounted for in the scriptures. The writer of the book of Psalms recorded this reality in most of his writings, where their journey was recounted in the light of God’s faithfulness despite Israels disobedience. We have a similar account in Psalms 78:14, it says: In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, And all the night with a light of fire. KJV

The pillar of cloud was God’s way to cover his people. And the fire was to give light. God by the gift of his presence did two things for his people. He shielded them from evil and dispel darkness out of their way. He ensured they are constantly protected and walked on the right path.

Specifically, God had an intention for leading the children of Israel through the path of wilderness and not through the land of the Philistines. The first is longer and full of uncertainties, while the latter is shorter with the possibility to find their way back to where they are coming from. It was a cut out path, where God’s direction might not be needed. God wanted his people to rest on him as their shepherd. To prove that even when the destination isn’t clear, he can lead to the purposed end if they will trust, obey and follow him.

Exodus 13:17-18 says; And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: but God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. KJV

God had a clear cut purpose at heart while he led them to go unto the land of promise. He didn’t want them to find their way back to Egypt. He want them out of bondage forever. What a good and intentional God we serve. You can be certain that God’s spirit in you is for your own good. Whatever God does for his people, is first and foremost for their benefit not his. He always want to pay the sacrifice, he always want to give, he always want to pour himself out to his people.

While he does this, he expect trust from his people, loyalty and obedience. Will you from today become conscious of God’s leading and guidance over your life? His Spirit is in you, become committed to the Holy Spirit more than before.

PRAYER

Dear Spirit of God, thank you for residing in me. I am sorry for every step I have taken out of your direction and will for my life. Empower me to be more consistent and faithful to your voice in Jesus’ name. Amen

The Prophecies of the Prophets XVI

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
FRIDAY, 27TH JANUARY 2023
TOPIC: THE PROPHECIES OF THE PROPHETS XVI

TEXT: ACTS 13:47
For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. KJV

After Apostle Paul’s persuasion towards the people, they departed and gathered again to hear of him the next sabbath. Surprisingly, the Gentiles who gathered to listened to God’s word at the synagogue outnumbered the Jews, who were supposed to be the primary beneficiaries of salvation because the promise of the savior, Jesus, was given to their Fathers.

They were filled with envy and began to disapprove all that Apostle Paul had said. This didn’t hinder him and his partner Barnabas from speaking and sharing the truth of God’s word. They wax bold and testified to the Gentiles that the promise of God in salvation, is not only for the stock of Isreal, but God through his prophet also spoke about the Gentiles as a beneficiary. (Acts 13:45)

He said; For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, That thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. Acts 13:47 KJV

The Gentiles were glad and glorified the words of the Lord. The message hasn’t change. Till this day, salvation is for us, who became the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. And it is open to as many as possible who will place their faith in God through Christ’ death and resurrection.

The declaration of the truth that salvation is a light to lighten the Gentiles was the same identification spoken by the prophet to define the earthly ministry of Jesus in Luke 2:32. This prophecy is also found in Isaiah 49:6. By now, your understanding of the writings in the books of the prophets should have become enlightened, with no confusion at all, knowing that they spoke largely about salvation in Christ. They spoke of the Kingdom of God and Christ as the king. His reign on earth and our salvation in Him.

Amidst, many other instructions, found in the books of the scriptures, God’s desire to save the world was communicated without reservation. We must know this and acknowledge the truth of the scriptures. It will shape our understanding of God and enable us to become a partner with God on earth, to save others through the power of the Holy spirit. Are you saved? Pray with me:

PRAYER

This day, I open my heart to the saviour of the world, Jesus Christ. Who was delivered for my offenses and raised for my justification. I confess him as my Lord and saviour and believe in my heart that he died for my sins. My sins are forgiven, and I receive eternal life, now and ever. Amen

He Sent Redemption III

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
WEDNESDAY, 12TH OCTOBER 2022
TOPIC: HE SENT REDEMPTION III

TEXT: LUKE 1:79
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. KJV

We have established that Redemption is needed in order to save man from destruction (Perish). And we also learned how the destruction came in through one man Adam and how everyman born of a woman inherited this and became sinners. With this foundation we began to explore God’s manifest goodness in redemption which is salvation. Salvation is God’s will to reconcile and bring back man to him as in the beginning.

Yesterday, we saw the correlation between John the Baptist’s birth and the accomplishment of redemption in Christ. Today, we will proceed to learn more about this truth as we glean from Zechariah’s prophecy.

Zechariah through prophecy established that his son is the prophet of God, and his ministry is to give knowledge of salvation not to bring salvation. He also affirmed this truth in the words of prophet Malachi saying that God’s tender mercy as showed up wherein the day spring from on high hath visited us (Luke 1:78) The day spring will refer to Jesus, who the prophet referred to as the Sun of righteousness in Malachi 4:2. The next verse confirmed this revelation as it stated the works of Jesus the redeemer:

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79 KJV.

Therefore, redemption is to give light to all who are in darkness and shadow of death (under the bondage of sin and death). It is to guide us to the way of peace (which is in God, our savior). Deliverance from the reign of sin and destruction is only possible through the redeeming power of God. And redemption is poured out as a gift and a work perfected in Christ Jesus. Therefore, it is beyond the issue of being morally upright or humanly good, it is of nature and the genesis of mankind. All men must be saved from eternal destruction which is a present force on earth.

On the matter of salvation, there is no choice. You must be saved with every of your household and the world at large. Pray with me

PRAYER

Righteous Father, I thank you for salvation in Christ Jesus. You made the way to salvation. Today, I accept the Lordship of Christ over my life. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and was raised by the power of God for my justification. My sins are forgiven in him, I am now a new creation, delivered from eternal destruction and saved from eternal death. Amen

The Kingdom Of His Dear Son I

HIS VOICE DAILY DEVOTIONAL
WEDNESDAY, 11TH MAY 2022
TOPIC: THE KINGDOM OF HIS DEAR SON I

TEXT: COLOSSIANS 1:13
For he has rescued us from the Kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear son (NLT)

The believer is already rescued from the Kingdom of darkness. Just as it was established yesterday, that life is about light and darkness, eternal life and eternal death, justification and condemnation. It’s either In Christ or out of Christ. But what is God’s will for all men in the world?

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. SALVATION

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. SALVATION KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH 2Timothy 2:3-4

To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace. LIGHT THE WAY OF PEACE. Luke1:79

There are still thousands of verses that established God’s will towards men in the world. It is nothing but deliverance from darkness, salvation and peace. The Apostles understood this desire clearly and Apostle Peter spoke to the audience in Acts 4:12, when there was a contention about the miracle God wrought in the life of the man who sat at the gate beautiful. He established that the power in the name of Jesus and faith in his name has made the man whole and that there is no other means whereby anyman can be saved. He spoke in verse twelve, he said;

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12 KJV

This is an eternal truth about salvation. It is in the name of Jesus Christ that salvation, deliverance from sin and death is established. Everyman is called into this Kingdom in the name of Jesus, the Kingdom of God’s only unique and dear Son by salvation. The transfer is done and there is an eternal change that rescues men till eternity. Are you ready? Pray with me;

PRAYER

Today, I have heard the gospel of salvation that Jesus died for my sins and was raised from the dead by the power of God. I believe with my heart this truth and confess with my mouth that Jesus has become my Lord and saviour. My sins are forgiven and I have a new life, filled with the power of God by the Holy spirit. Amen
